The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has recorded another milestone in fight against crude oil theft in the country as six persons have been arrested for crude oil stealing.
The arrest was made by the company’s partners, Tantita Security Service on Saturday May 13 in Opete, Udu Local Government area in Delta State, South-South Nigeria.
Captain Warredi Ensuoh, Executive Director, Operations and Technical of Tantita Security Services who conducted newsmen round various locations of the incidence said the operation was conducted by a combined team of security agencies acting on intelligence.
The six Arrested persons were caught with a barge laden with 700 barrels of illegal crude oil.
This was made known in a tweet on Twitter page of the firm, according to the tweet, one of the discoveries was that, a jetty belonging to one Mawe Services Limited in Opete, Udu Local Government of Delta State illegally used its facilities to transfer the illegal crude to another of its facility serving as a depot.
The tweet further stated, six suspects arrested for the offence are currently being detained by the security agencies while the barge used has been safely destroyed.
