Auto Crash Claim Three Traditional Rulers On Their Way To Funeral of Another Traditional Ruler’s Family Party

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the death of three traditional rulers in an auto crash that occurred in Ogbomoso on Friday.

Punch reports, the FRSC Sector Commander in Oyo State, Mr Joshua Adekanye, attributed the cause of the crash to speed violation and wrongful overtaking.

According to Adekanye, two vehicles involved were a white M/Benz E230 car with registration number ‘Olodogbo’ and a white Scania Truck with registration number MUS 301 XF.

He said that six people were involved in the accident; three died and the others were injured.

“It was a head-on collision involving private and commercial vehicles on Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway.

“The survivors are undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital while the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital,” Adekanye added.

Eyewitnesses told Punch (Sunday Special) that the traditional rulers were on their way to a funeral party of another traditional ruler’s family relation when the accident occurred at Arinkinkin area of Ogbomoso.

It was gathered that two of the affected monarchs died on the spot while the third died a few hours later at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital where he was rushed to.

An eyewitness, Olawoyin Adekunle, said, “Six passengers were involved in the crash but the three survivors are undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital. The affected passengers were going to a social function in the nearby community when the accident occurred.

“The affected monarchs are Olodogbo of Odogbo; Onibowula of Bowula and Alayetoro of Ayetoro in Oriire Local Government.”

In a related development, Adekanye also confirmed that nine out of the 13 persons suffered various degrees of burnt when a DAF brand Truck caught fire on the Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway on the same day.

He added that no life was lost but those injured are receiving treatment in the hospital.
