We Will Never Forget June 12, 1993 Election -Amina Irawo

As years pass by, the more the hope of June 12, 1993 increases, this is according to Alhaja Amina Irawo, who stated this during this year’s June 12 celebrations in Lagos.

Alhaja Irawo stated that people of like minds will continue to gather in remembrance of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, who died in military detention in 1998.

She said that the June 12 celebration commenced in year 2000 after the death of MKO Abiola, who she said was the richest man and the most generous giver in his days.

Alhaja Irawo stated further that for someone to surrender his life just like Jesus Christ did, was worthy of commendation.

She said that he was arrested in her presence, and that he didn’t deny the struggle, “he died in the struggle. So, I can never forget him,” she said.

Alhaja Irawo said further that Abiola was the foundation of the democracy that the nation practises today, saying that Nigeria will be better, when another government takes over the mantle of leadership in May next year.

She prayed that God would provide someone, who will follow MKO Abiola’s program and who will have the love of the masses at heart.

Though, she’s not supporting any candidate, she hoped that whoever becomes the president should focus on education, security, adding that she has an undisclosed presidential candidate in mind.

Alhaja Irawo revealed that she is supporting Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for second term.

According to her, “the governor has performed incredibly well in the area of education.

“A visit to Agege area of the state will convince you. Sanwo-Olu has given secondary schools in the state a facelift, and he supplies the school children with textbooks.”
