Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Aba, has said that Easter brings joy to the children of God because it was the period the Lord Jesus Christ died and resurrected.

Dr. Aba, who stated this on Easter Sunday at the Methodist Church in Tinubu Square, Lagos, added that if Jesus had not resurrected, the faith of Christians would have been in vain.

“Easter brings joy to believers as children of God. We have joy for this day because our master died and resurrected. If he had not resurrected, our faith would have been in vain.

“But because he did, we are all happy. So, there’s hope for every believer that on the last day, we will be with Him in paradise,” he said.

The cleric noted that every Nigerian should go to God and turn a new leaf, and urged everyone to become a believer, live uprightly, and “seek Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith.”

The man of God further said that Christians should derive understanding from Easter celebration.

He stated that Jesus came to bear “our pains and sorrows. He showed us how to love unconditionally. Every Nigerian must love one another, and love the country because we have no other country we can call own.”

According to him, “no matter the situation, all hands must be on deck to bring about the glory of the old days to our contemporary days. Everything about Nigeria will come alive, and we shall be blessed at the end of the day.”

He stressed that every adult in Nigeria has responsibility to keep the country together for unborn children, and that elders must have something to beget to the new generation for a better Nigeria.

He advised the forthcoming administration to love Nigeria, saying that it is like someone or object that one loves and dies for.

He urged them to take Nigeria as treasure, saying that the Bible says, “wherever your treasure is, that’s where your heart is.”

“The new administration has to do much to put Nigeria in a proper shape.

“We have much responsibility, not only by the new President, but all hands must be on deck because only him cannot work from Aso Rock down to the local government level.

“What has been the major sickness of the country is corruption and we must fight it because it has become like cancer to the country.

“The new President is to take the lead, we will follow him and pray along with him.

“Pastors, and ministers of the gospel will continue to pray for him to succeed because if he fails, it’s all of that have failed. Therefore, we need to come together as a family to take this country to a greater height,” he said.
