Nigerian Police Partners Lagos Govt To Build Modern Barracks For Personnel

The Nigerian Police Force has concluded plans to modern barracks for its personnel in Lagos.

Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated this during a press briefing at the Lagos State Headquarters of the command in Ikeja on Wednesday.

Adejobi further stated that 25 police barracks and facilities would be demolished while another would be erected in the exercise.

“This is to uplift the habitation of the personnel serving in the state with modern facilities obtainable in the world, and it is an initiative of the Inspector General of Police, Aikali Baba and this is going to be continuous,” Adejobi said.

He stressed that the purpose is to improve the working condition of the personnel for effectiveness and efficient service delivery.

Meanwhile, this is in compliance with the recommendation of the Lagos State Government for the force to improve the working condition of its personnel in the state.

The old buildings, according to Adejobi, didn’t meet current integrity test, saying that it is necessary to carryout demolition, development and reconstruction of 25 police barracks and facilities in the state, which he said would be extended to other parts of the country in no distant time.

In a proactive approach towards the development and regeneration of the establishment, the spokesperson of the force said that the affected police personnel would be provided with financial assistance to facilitate alternative accommodation for the two or three years the project would last.

The affected police barracks include; EJ Police Barrack, Highway Police Barrack, Falomo Police Barrack, Bar Beach Police Barrack, Adekunle Police Barrack, Okesuna Police Barrack, Boudillon Police Barrack, Elere Police Barrack, Onikan Officers Mess, Alausa Police Barrack and a few others.

The PPRO further revealed that the occupants of the affected barracks would be given one month notice, adding that this action wouldn’t be carried out at once, but that it would be implemented in phases.
